Today’s Take A state-regulator probe into a sponsor-owned insurer's affiliated private credit leads a slate where redemption pressure at Blue Owl looks to be easing even as refinancing risk lingers, CalPERS leans further into credit and new GP-stakes and Gulf distribution vehicles reach for wealth and sovereign capital. Private equity is thinner: Blackstone's defense platform, a fundraising tally and a Bloomberg column on a harder exit market, while law-firm alerts keep parsing the SEC's retail-access proposals. 17 stories

Regulators are scrutinising how Atlantic Coast, a life insurer owned by a buyout firm, filled its portfolio with credit originated by its own affiliates. It is the sharpest test yet of the insurance and private-credit tie-up that funds much of the asset class's growth. For GPs and allocators, it raises the odds of tighter oversight of affiliated-asset arrangements.

As of Oct 6, 2026, before the open. No figure was re-verified this morning; all six cells are carried forward unchanged from the Oct 5 edition at their last published readings. A search for the Oct 5 10-year Treasury yield returned conflicting readings (5.26% and a 5.31% close), so the 5.29% Sep 30 reading from CNBC / Trading Economics stays, sparkline unchanged. Also carried: the Fed funds upper bound (4.00%, FOMC Sep 16), the Chicago Fed NFCI credit subindex (-0.06, week ending Sep 25, sparkline unchanged), Warburg Pincus's Ingenia bid (Sep 27), PitchBook's end-2025 NAV in funds ten years or older and Evercore's H1 2026 secondaries volume.
